It really depends... For an old One Core comp, i prefer XP, it seems to run smoother, but for all newer computers, i really like Win7, and the awesome startup speed
For school work i always boot up linux, since i find it easier to handle many open windows (Exposure and Workspaces).

For the most part, most people in this thread have yet to see any "real" side of Linux that separates it from Windows and other operating systems.

I choose Windows; not for usability sakes, but because I like the Windows NT kernel and current API. I find it written somewhat well, and security is being revamped constantly (Then again, Microsoft just finally added ASLR).
