Alot of current BIOS ask you which OS to boot when you start up your pc. Currently my pc only has xp but when i boot it asks me to boot windows xp or windows xp (tuneup utilities backup)
This is in the OS channel bfore your pc starts your OS. It can be done. |

Faulty ram as in? Also, what's SATA controller and what do I change?

other reasons for bsod...
Assuming you got your system from a OEM vender and didn't build it yourself. Majority of these systems will have their SATA controllers set to ACHI. ACHI brings NCQ (on hd that supports NCQ), a boost in HD performance and the ability to hotswap (remove/install your data SATA HD without the need to power off your computer) and proper eSATA support.
Since a additional driver is needed for ACHI and since the XP disc doesn't have it, it may give an error HD isn't found or BSOD at a certain stage of the installation.
The same issue will occur if your SATA controllers are set as RAID. Vista has a larger driver database thus additional ACHI/RAID drivers are pre-loaded on to the disc.
Change your SATA to IDE mode if you want to install XP, but you may have to redo your Vista.

Hmmm. I'd rather not reinstall Vista.
