Actually there is a way to get Direct X 10 installed on an XP computer, although I highly recommend to simply upgrade to Windows 7 which has DirectX11 native without any unofficial modification which may possibly lead to further problems.

| Yes, but that directx is not coming from microsoft, so it can cause problems. |

This page is old as fuck, and this is not a good idea. Vista and onwards has an entirely new driver architecture, which is why DX10 is only on it. |

my mom won't let me buy any thing cause she's super asain. (i'm 14.) do you think upgrading to windows 7 is a good idea? and how much ram would i need? would my video card support windows 7?
in other words, what do i need to run windows 7?
oh btw, this is not against the rules, but
is downloading it a good idea?
oh and when does widnwos 7 go out?

Windows 7 will run on almost any hardware. I've got it running on a friend's old shittop with below than minimum specs (1.2GHz PIII, 512MB of PC133 SDRAM (yes, pre-DDR1), some prehistoric 16MB graphics chip, ridiculously slow 40GB HDD, etc. No DVD drive and not bootable from USB so installing Win7 was a pain in the ass). Surprisingly enough, it's running faster than XP, as hard as that may sound to believe.

A newer game properly utilizing DX10 will run faster than the same game DX9. Most games, however, are poorly optimized for DX10 and run slower than the same game in DX9. Some games utilize DX10s speed and features better than others.
I'm just waiting for DX11 cards to be released. Major restructure compared to DX10, should be loads faster.
