Vista got a bad reputation because of the laziness by developers and hardware used during that time.
Developers were too lazy to create drivers or software that will work with Vista while they have like 5 years to do so.
Brick n Motar stores sales personals we're not informed or too dumb to do their own research about the hardware requirements to have a better Vista experience. They go on and sell off a $499 machines to customers where they expect to run Windows Aero, but the system is not capable of doing it either it's pre-installed with Vista Basic (lacks Aero), or Home Premium but the hardware such as video ram is too weak to run it anyway.
Customers should have done their own research too, cause those sellers in their are idiots!
If Vista came out now, its reputation may be different than it was before. | the avg american isn't that bright. Thats y they buy macs. Simple overpriced macs that do shit BUT are easy as hell to use

OEMs did the same exact thing, pairing lacking hardware with a demanding operating system, especially in laptops. At least some of the local shops (my nearest one comes to mind) continued to sell computers with XP, even advertising the point (doubtlessly with shit propaganda from early Vista, but whatever).

Vista is an improvement over XP, and I have to wait before I get Windows 7...
And I see it's getting positive reviews by everyone here...
And I don't get why so many people dislike Vista; it's great...

I don't know much about the differences, but I do know that x86 programs work absolutely fine on an x64 OS and that means I can run both 32 bit and 64 bit programs.

Besides being able to access more memory, I'd imagine native 64 bit programs can be potentially faster as they have more CPU registers to play with.

Oh lord I lol'd
And the only real benefit to 64-bit is addressing more memory, and in some cases a slight performance increase. Though there's really no downside to it as long as you aren't using ancient hardware.
