Any fix. It just wont play. Computer is a dell xps 1640 on vista 64 bit.

This is a headphone jack on the speakers themselves?
Test the computer's audio port the speakers are plugged into with headphones, it may be that the speakers didn't recognise you pulling out the headphone cable, and never went back to playing the sound out loud.

This happens with a lot of devices i've used...including iPhones and my laptop. I believe it is a way to keep sounds from blaring out during "accidental" headphone removal, in which case it will sort of mute the current sound output to prevent any accidental sound pollution. For my laptop I generally just mute then unmute the master volume and it will return to normal.
