0 divided by 0 equals a number. Since at the moment we don't know what it is, we'll assign it with the letter x. Because 0 divided by 0 equals x, that means that x times zero must equal zero. However, ANYTHING times zero is zero. So 0 divided by zero, is ANYTHING.
Weird, huh?
It's supposedly given mathematitions grief for hundreds of years. |
Woah, that's fucking nice lol. _________________

If you 'cut up' a square into these parts and rearrange
[img]http://i40.tinypic.com/eqcget.png[img]
A=21*21
=441
[img]http://i42.tinypic.com/2zqtn3k.png[img]
A=34*13
=442
It appears we have gained a unit in the process |
Ah I remember this.
The second one isn't a real rectangle.. There's actual a sliver of space between center of the shapes that makes it have one unit greater in area. This is due to the slope of the triangle and the trapezoid not being equal, so when they're put together it's not a perfect triangle. Then there's a gap between these two larger triangles. |

example: 8 x 16 = ?
8 x 10 u can easily figure is 80 in ur head
8 x 6 is easy 48
than add the 2 numbers to get 128 | What are you 9? That's quite obviously math that we learn in primary school. Also, I don't have any tricks. |

Nice tricks everybody :]
Also, if you're going to post solutions, post them 'hidden'.
By headen I mean for example: Closed in

tags (they'll apear invisible)
I never even saw that one before Trucido :] Nice.
And solving the unsolvable is one of the things I used to enjoy in class.
I'd write miles of conversions, basicly looping but with different variables/orders, slipping a mistake in there and solving it ^^ _________________

Here:
108^2
take how much it is above 100 ( and add that to the number
116
its the base of 100 so you need 2 more digits
116__
Square the number that it is above 100 (
11664
Takes only a second to do in your head ... |

That makes no sense.
108x108 is not 216. |

I forgot where I got this from but 0.999...("..." being repeated) = 1
1/3 in decimal form is obviously 0.333...
if you take
1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 you get 1.
if you take 0.333... + 0.333... + 0.333... you get 0.999...
just proves how inacurate decimals can be _________________

Yea he does. I prefer to just say 3 bar. But yes if you use the formula to fine the sum of infinite geometric sequences you can see that 9 bar equals one.
| Code: |
a/1-r
a = .9
r = .1
.9/1-.1 = .9/.9 = 1

I meant 0.9"bar" not 9"bar" or however you want to put it. I think it's still pretty cool :<
edit: nvm, I'm stupid _________________

the recurring one is easy to figure out.
let x = 0.99999.....
10x = 9.999999....
9x = 9
x = 1
it's obvious though really if you look at it another way.. think what is the difference between it and 1. since the 9s recur to infinite then there is no difference |
