a friend of mine is taking a theoretical physics degree- we got talking about the nature of time. there are some interesting youtube videos that discuss the eleven probable dimensions- so far as we understand them at present, anyway.

time is perceived through our dimension, the third- and it in itself is the fourth- i dont know the ins and outs of it, but from what i gather- the simplified idea is that time passes through our dimension in the form of infinitely thin slices, 2D cross sections with literally no width.

if you imagine a sphere passing through a wall, (and you are seeing it from exactly front on) you would see a minute circle appear from nowhere, that became larger, and then shrank back to nothing- each different sized circle is a cross section of the sphere. we see time from our dimension, in an order, which subsequently gives it a direction, ie: nothing, small circle, larger circle, small circle, nothing.

if we could see time from within the fourth dimension itself- would we perceive the entire sphere at once?- that is to say, would time no longer have a discernable direction? would time all happen at once? its worth researching for yourself, very interesting stuff.
