Your just performing a read only mode where XP does not fix the errors.
You will need to run chkdsk with the proper switch commands in order to tell XP you want to fix any error(s) it finds.

another option, back up data and reformat USB storage device.

Take files out of storage device, right click on storage device, click "Format", choose NTFS, let it format.

Try plugging the flash drive to other USB Ports, or try reinstalling it again. If that doesn't work try this in CMD:

Kill C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\system.LOG

or

/Del C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\system.LOG

only do it when you have the Flash Drive in the computer and the error message shows.

Try VB6 and add a button with the code:

Kill C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\system.LOG

then make it an .exe, when you then have the flash drive plugged and error message shows then open the .exe and press the button. IT should work. If it doesn't then something in your System32 folder is corrupted or been deleted.

If i use
Code:
Del C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\system.LOG
then the error is still there. i removed the flash drive after that then put it back and nothing different happened.

then goto Start>Run>C:\WINDOWS\system32\config then look for the system.LOG if it is not there then it might be hidden so look for hidden items if you don't know how then: in the same window look for Tool>Folder Options> Then on the View Tab Click Show Hidden Files and Folders> Click OK and look for the system.LOG and delete it.

Do a chkdsk that allows file repair on reboot.

Go to your desktop and press the F1 key, a magic window will open up. Type in the question how to run check disk and it will give you the answers with detail steps.

I wouldn't suggest formatting flash drives to NTFS, FAT32 is superior for a number of reasons with flash drives.

Command to check the flash drive would be:
chkdsk <drive name, c:/ for example> /f
