I need to know how to disconnect/connect a modem using either C++, VB.NET or C#. Preferably VB.NET.

I don't want to restart the modem, I just want to know how to disconnect/connect the internet, to change my ip.

Thanks.

There are tons of freeware programs that can do this already, and it will only change if you have a dynamic ip.

Well I think you can use system() (C++) to refresh and renew the 'ipconfig'.

Yeah I tried that, it won't work.
I've been searching for something that does this but I can't find something that actually works.

Thanks for the suggestions. I hope someone has the solution.

Well, you could just plug/unplug the modem cable.

There's no reason why it wouldn't work. Surely it does. Other alternatives popping to my mind atm: IP Helper and WMI. Or just plain uninstalling/disabling the whole thing with the ICS thingy.

this kid isn't talking about tapping.. but there are certain contiguious aspects to it .. tapping is where most modems have a standby button on top of them and just stops the flow of packets into the PC and out of the PC.. it is very hard to mimic this functionality realiably and accuratly because most "tool's" actually bring down the connection and refresh the settings.. which is not what we want to do..my suggestion is looking for a modem that includes this standby functionality and or Writting a Packet Sniffer that Spools packets when necessary a doesnt bring down the connection.. this is my idea for a coded tapping functionality..pls feel free to code it .. :p

but onto the real Problem..
i suggest consulting msdn
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394595(VS.85).aspx

there you will find all information needed.

Yeah, I'll just send a request with NetworkStream to disconnect and reconnect using the page for my modem. Thanks for all your help. Very Happy

Oh, you want to make a tapper, why didn't you say so ? -_-

well, gg blocks packet filtering which was a good method, but you could use Layer Service Provider if you want to.

i love how everyone thinks hardware can bypass everything Smile

"oh no, it's hooked what can i do ?"

dont assume im a dumbass cause i will make u look like a idiot..

i mean hardware as a separate device.. because it can filter all traffic going out or in.. period..

maybe if you understood that i was talking about "hardware" you wouldnt assume i meant a driver.. WHICH IS SOFTWARE...

You made yourself more idiot, and stop avoiding the fact you're a dumbass cause you use a device driver to communicate with hardware you little peice of shit.

You're an idiot. If this piece of hardware is not connected to your computer, then obviously you can. OH BUT A DRIVER HAS TO COMMUNICATE!!! No, an internet line can connect your computer to this piece of hardware. GameGuard will have no access to it.
