Just make sure when you get your computer to do a harddisk format and install xp

BTW, the future for us hackers seems dull
M$ is blocking individuals out of kernel mode development by enforcing the retarded "x64 Kernel driver sigining program".
Hacking from kernel mode won't be possible on 64Bit Vista unless we're incorporated...
Dark Byte, you have any plans for kernel side of CE on 64Bit Vista?

Yes, I'll probably make a 64-bit to bypass usermode hooks (but those can also be done different)
But one good thing about vista 64-bit is that nprotect 'shouldn't ' be able to edit the kernel as well to protect the game.
Only downside is that you then can't hide cheatengine by kernelpatching, so you'd have to make uce's, and expect kernelmode debugregisters to not work at all
Also, i'm researching something that might be used in 64-bit as well

Well, but in M$ "Patching Policy for x64-Based Systems"
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/kernel/64bitpatching.mspx
it says "If your driver must perform a task that you think cannot be accomplished without patching the kernel, contact Microsoft Product Support Services or your Microsoft representative to help determine if a documented alternative exists"... it sounds like IF there weren't ANY "alternative", the vender can request a special license from M$ to patch the kernel...and nProtect might take that strategy...
Am I getting too paranoid about it

Don't worry about that, if you followed the news not even anti-virus companies got the needed information from microsoft.
The best thing ms told them is some apis that lets you replace the security panel with their own, and write a FS filterdriver for scanning files, but simply refuse to let them have any access to the kernel.
Also, as long as the driver can be loaded it can have full access to any process even if it requires low level programming like setting CR3 manually to gain memory access to the requested process

Well, just hope there really won't be any exception for any security vendors...
And hope some gurus at rootkit.com will come up with some way to bypass the windows PatchGuard...

just hope that they dont release the 86 bit ver to be a must......... that would be harder.
oh DB, try to bypass this because windows will do a bug check and shut down the system if it detects it.
For compatibility with Windows for x64-based systems, drivers must avoid the following practices:
•
Modifying system service tables, for example, by hooking KeServiceDescriptorTable(this is going to be hard to avoid because ce needs to use this)(simplified:trouble)
•
Modifying the interrupt descriptor table (IDT)
•
Modifying the global descriptor table (GDT)
•
Using kernel stacks that are not allocated by the kernel
•
Patching any part of the kernel (detected only on AMD64-based systems)(lucky for intel chipset users)
