how do u "discover" the algorithms with olly? ^^
also, in this crackme, it's supposed to be in the source somehing like this?:
string correctpwd="something";
if (encryptPwd(correctpwd) == inputtedpwd) {
it was good. blah blah blah;
else {
blah blah blah}

my idea is that, is the pwd is encrypted with some algorithm at the function encryptPwd?
if not, which could be the possible method it was encrypted?
i'm yet a nab Razz

There are other ways then comparing them directly...

Not sure what you mean Doomsday. (if you are talking about a PE structure, its just as MingW made it).

Ok, here's what I've got:
  • 004013F0 - An array of offsets is being generated (it uses the password as a sorting factor), the offsets point to a pre-defined data block.
  • 004017B7 - If the data pointed by the offsets match to the pre-defined data block - the password is correct.
The preoblem is: I can't seem to find a way to get a match between those (I did extract the functions used to generate the array)...

nog, could you please check that your password works?

One thing - if this is a VB app (didn't look at it), then the developer used pre-made shit. They always do, then they brag how all-mighty their crackme is Smile

Hey jerk, this was written from scratch in C using only basic POSIX functions and not packed. Maybe look at it before you talk crap Sad.

Edit: DoomsDay, my password works. Since you are that far along: the arrays are actually heap structures - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heap_(data_structure)
