My friend recently got a water cooling kit fromt thermaltake and it hasn't made much of a difference in cooling. I was learning in science not sure if it would work but if he put salt in the liquid would it allow the liquid to get colder before actually freezing?
I heard lots of ways that's one I just thought up but if anyone knows how to get a massive increase in liquid temperature that would help lots!

Salt only lowers the water's freezing temperature.

Would ice cubes and ETC break the cooling kit if I added some to the resovoir... Were thinking a lot of stuff up...

Well, here's what happens.. the Sodium Chlorite (Salt) goes into the
molecules liquifying them... so it does not change the water's cooling
temperature but it does melt it.

What are you talking about? Salt doesn't melt anything. The reason people put salt on a snow covered drive way is because the salt lowers the melting temperature of the snow, causing it to melt from the new freezing temperature. And also the ocean don't freeze is because of the large amount of salt in it.

| Bottom line is, don't put anything in a water/liquid-cooling system that isn't sanctioned to be put into it by its manufacturer. (Confusing pronouns? o-o)

What I meant is if I put salt into the liquid enough to have it through out the liquid and froze it a bit more would it affect the kit in anyway?
I know salt changes the max temp before freezing...

When you buy a liquid cooling kit there should be a little packet with the installation instruction and on the last few pages, there should be something warning you about putting stuff in the liquid cooler.

I doubt documentation would really condone that...
Does the OP realize water cooling is only so good as ambient temperature?

The guide just says clean out tubes and ETC if you see corrosion with alcohol... :S
