A Touch Of The Lips

I toss, I turn
My heart is burned
A lust unlike any other
Just wanting to touch her
To run your fingers through her smooth, fragile hair
Her eyes lit up like a wartime flair
your heart pounds, in comparison to volleys of bullets shot from a gun
All you wanted was some fun
She leans in
You grin
A brief stare
No one else is there
Nervously, but steadily, you ease your head inward
Slowly, almost unwilling, a soldier off to war
Lips meet
A feeling of warmth pulses through your body
She pushes
You push back
Release
Freedom from eachother's grasp
One last stare into her eyes
The wartime flair, gone
The volley of gunshots, subsided
You thought you could be clever
Nothing lasts forever.
