A mobo made by intel duuh Razz

Btw do you really want to spend that much money on that CPU?
Why not get a Q6600+ watercooling set and overclock it to 3.5ghz+?

haha, I wasn't sure what you guys mean by "mobo".
Is it something really obvious? I'm slow some times lol.
But since this is my first home build system, I don't really want to go into overclocking, I'm not sure how it's done and I want to avoid screwing up at all costs.

Mobo = Motherboard.
Lulz.

haha, thanks.
So, I want to change the "Mobo" to an intel based one, and get a nvidea card instead? Anything else? I'd consider the q6600 but as I said, I don't like the idea of overclocking.
ill give you links...
mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128358
gpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102770

you can get anothe gpu later.

He should get 4870. Not 4850.
oh. didnt see budget.

Thanks for the reply guys, although now you have me considering the q6600. I know nothing about overclocking, and it sounds risky. Should I just stick with the q9550?

When i bought a new mobo I didnt know anything about overclocking to
But its just changing a number and seeing if your computer runs stable or not. If not, you change the number back to default

I'm really iffy about it though. Is there any chance I can mess up my hardware? If not, perhaps I'll just get a q6600 then, and save some money.

the q9550 can be overclocked stabily at 3.8 ghz, and will outperform the q6600.
in the long run, you will probably save more money with the 45 nm, because it uses less electricity.
its only a $100 difference.

From that 100$ he could get a watercooling kit and overclock the Q6600 to the same clock+ have a cool (Temperature) GPU

100 buys a shitty watercooling kit that lasts a year, leaks, then fries your mobo/cpu/gpu.

If the q6600 was the same gHz as the q9550.
Then the q9550 would still be alot faster, its not all about the hertz.

You guys should look at this:

Thanks humper, I'm gunna go with the q9550.
I think I'll stick with the mobo as well, the reviews seem pretty good. I may reconsider the video card.

get the base i7 920 cpu, excellent value and fast, but for graphics since your budget is like 1000-1200, get the ATI radeon hd4850, whoever said 4870, i think their like 250 or like 300 which is already a fourth of your 1200 budget.. Even better, i heard the Radeon HD4670 is only 80 bucks and can run games pretty well, but i would stick with the 4850 if your a DX10 gamer.

If you're a gamer, your graphics card is the most important piece in your rig, followed by your CPU, it being 1/4th, even 1/3rd of the price of your rig is quite reasonable.
