Not everything you feel is pain.

Lrn2brain

you can feel your brain?

Now you're just being stupid.

Not everything you feel is pain. You can have as many crazy theories as you want, but that doesn't mean they're true.

hmmmmm

when its hot outside, your feel heat

heat is paintful =0
low pain

when its cold
same thing

when you touch something
it is painfull, not painful as in a cut but just as in touching.

im using pain in diff meaning than what we define it >_>

I'm not even going to bother arguing with someone who is obviously wrong.

Like I said, you can have as many crazy theories as you want, but that doesn't mean you're correct.

dont argue then =0
and im not saying i am correct cuz i cant force a personal idea on you.

im just stating my personal view on the meaning of pain.
i define pain by levels not by the general term

seeign as how the perception of pain depends on a person. Some people can withstand more "pain" than others, others feel more hurt(pain" at the smallest little things. Some people cant feel pain at all cuz of a genetic problem.

i cant argue on this because i define pain as anything that you can feel in terms of touch. =/

also, i dont know how to explain my view with words.

Why would you define pain as your sense of touch.

when you touch a hot stove you feel pain, it hurts like hell.

when you touch that same stove but when its turned off, you feel the stove. its still pain, but it just doesnt hurt you.

when someone taps your shoulder, you feel their hand, although it doesnt really hurt you, its still a very low level of pain.
when someone taps your shoulder hard, you feel pain in a sense of "it hurts"

get what im saying?

i define pain in levels, when level of pain is too high, you feel "hurt"

its hard to explain >_>

Your theory doesn't make sense because during the time you're touching the regular stove, the area of the brain that detects pain is not active.

learn meaning of perception.

not everyone has same ideas or defenitions on things.

also, when exposed to something constantly, you will ignore it.
you get used to certain types of things.

thats nice.

i define red as a color

and all colors depend on the person.

what is red to you, may actually be the color that i call blue.

you see red in a certain way, i may see it in a diff way.

nobody can know for sure what color something really is.
we just agree on what to call those sets of pigments/photons/whatever you want to call it.

That isn't the case. Explain why bright neon colors effect everyone's eyes the same.

that isnt the case either.

that is impossible to answer.

It's impossible to see the exact color they see, but it's possible to see the effects of the color. Bright neon lights hurt my eyes. Bright neon lights hurt my friends' eyes. Bright neon lights hurt my families' eyes.

I can deduce that we all see the same color. If I were seeing neon yellow, and they were seeing, idk, black, they would not have the same effect.

i have no clue what you are saying >_>

what im saying is that lets say we both see the same object

and it says that it is red.

what you see and call red, may be something completely differnt for me.

for all you know, my red could be your blue.
we still call it red.

I'm disproving you.

Say we have the exact same example, except this color is a very bright yellow.

This yellow hurts my eyes, and also hurts my friends' eyes.

We can deduce that we are seeing the same color, because if it were a bright yellow to me, and a blue to him, the color wouldn't be hurting his eyes. I know you're just going to comeback with the exact same argument, but that's my two cents on the subject.

i know we can say we are seeing the same color.

i've been saying that.

lets see...

what im saying is that our perception is different.

again, i will repeat my self.

we see same color
it has a label and it says it is red.

we both call it red.

however, we cant say that what the other sees is exactly the same.

even though we are looking at same object, and we both know that it is "red"

we only agreed on the word and what it is descriving.

my "red" can be your "blue"

your yellow could be my green.

the word wont change, what makes up the color wont change.
what will change is how each indivual person sees.

color is a secondary property.
its not a primary property.

primary properties can be measured and we cant deny them.

if something is falling, it is going down.
that is a primary.

if something is 4mm long, then it is a primary property.
we can measure it.

however, color is a secondary property.
meaning that it depends on the person.

we cant say that you are seeing the same thing.
we both know its red, but we may see it differntly.

i may have grown up seeing a color, and i know it is red.
you grew up seeing the same color and you also call it red.

however, who is to say our eyes are looking at the same exact thing?
even if they react the same way, we can still see it differntly but just call it the same thing.

I went ahead and did some research on the subject, so as to not sound like an idiot while further discussing this.

I have come across one study that shows that 2/3 properites of color are constant for each person. That would be saturation and lightness. The third, hue, could vary from person to person. That means that what I see as a navy blue could be a purple or black to you, but nothing dramatic like red to blue.

/thread.
