What happens when you right click on the CD/DVD and select properties? Does it show that any space has been used? If not, then you need to get the file burned again. | yea see it says the space has been used

it would probably be because of it being a dvd/rw. not all dvd drives can read rw, check on the front of it and it should have RW somwhere. if it doesn't then that's probably why.

I still think your friend didn't burn it correctly. Ask him to put it on a USB or something. Discs are old, crummy and usually as unreliable as this.

....
1) Get IMGBurn.
2) Select 'Burn Image to Disk' or similar.
3) Browse to the image data.
4) Select Write Speed: 1X
5) Burn it.
How hard is that? One look at the GUI and you would've gotten it.

Are you trying to use the same disk from before?
EDIT: FFS, you're ripping in that picture.
.___.
We've established that the disk you own right now is a piece of shit. It doesn't work. Go to Spore's source and burn the image to a new disk.

what he means is to get your friend, or whoever has the original, and burn the dvd again, on a normal dvd-r this time.

Or better yet - Get an iPod/External HDD/USB. Discs are OLD.

Tell your friend to reburn it, but instead of actually burning the ISO onto the disc, just do a data disk instead and throw the ISO on there. So it's not the Spore DVD, but a DVD with the Spore ISO file on it.
I'm not sure, but the fact that the disc is a RW might mess it up or maybe the disc is fucked up physically.

He doesn't have Spore, his friend does.
