Spunge and slovach are very correct. The more RAM it is using the faster it might go in theory... _________________

Vista eats up lots of ram, but it's does put good use to it which like someone had mentioned is called "SuperFetch".
Super Fetch in Vista learns your habits as to how you use your machine and then adjust the programs according to the number of times you use it.
Lets says you open Maple Story the most while Notepad the least. Super Fetch memorizes that so the next time you launch Maple Story it will load faster.
Installing SP1 erases superfetch so you may felt it's slower than before. Just give it a few days to let Vista relearn.

slovach and sponge are very right. i managed to run vista fine (excluding stupid drivers which were problems for ASUS) on my laptop, which only has 1.5gb of RAM (1.37gb after graphics) and a 1.87GHz cpu. if anyone wants to read up on Superfetch.
i read about that, made be lol. _________________

| I just got Vista Ultimate. Sure, it uses more ram. But, I don't use as much ram as most people do. So ram for me isn't a big problem. Now, the features are a little harder to get used to, sure. But, anyone who takes the time can figure it out. |

Only reason I won't switch to vista is because of that. My comp sucks toooooooooo much for it, and it's half dead already just running XP. =( |

| It has tons of incompatibility issues and it needs 4GB of ram to run. On the other hand it has more security and better visual effects. |

| I don't like the look and feel from vista. I can't think of any reason to upgrade to it. |

the people that say it sucks or that it constantly crashes are the people with the shittiest computers and probably have dial up (which has nothing to do with vista ) if you had a computer that you bought like 10 years ago and had windows 98 installed on it or even 2000 and try to install vista, then you are fucked. |

Yeah, he is. Don't listen to anything that comes from this kid. Most, if not all, of it is garbage. The rest is shit.
Also, I cannot run Vista properly because my computer sucks.
I don't like the Areo theme. I really don't feel the need to upgrade. _________________

I agree with you here. After I used Vista, I only found that it gets sluggish faster and I don't like the way that the directories are set up. In fact, on my brother's computer, who has 2gb of RAM, is shutting off every time he opens an application because of "superfetch" using so much RAM. I don't like superfetch at all. I also noticed I got better performance when I used XP for gaming than with Vista. I don't want you guys to shove facts in my face because I know what I know from experiences with Vista. I just plain don't like it and I'm sticking with my XP/Ubuntu dual boot. _________________
