|
|
Okay, so I got a new computer recently with vista on it.
The computer I had before was crap, it was XP but all installable games would go fairly quickly.
But now since I got my new computer (Which is far better) all the games that I used to play are like 2x slower or more. <--o_o?
Is it because of Vista or what do you think?

Supposedly, 90% of computer shipments use integrated graphics. It's likely that your old computer used a dedicated graphics card, but a slower CPU. It would still probably be faster than your "new" computer, in terms of gaming.
From the "System" window you're already in, click Device Manager in the left field. In the Device Manager window, expand Display Adapters. Take a screenshot or copy whatever it says to here.
Also, what games do you play?

Ah, so you do have a dedicated video card, but an extremely weak one. It would probably be incapable of playing modern games at your monitor's native resolution, so that would explain the slowness.

| Vista also uses up a lot of memory.

No, even if you were to take apart the laptop (it would void your warranty too), and took the dedicated video card in the laptop, and tried to put it in your desktop, it wouldn't fit.

Oh, I must have read it wrong.
Maybe, maybe not. Some models with integrated graphics cards don't have the appropriate slots for your dedicated laptop graphics card, since they were not intended to accommodate one. You would still void your warranty by "replacing" hardware. It's pretty hard to find laptop graphics cards in the first place.

As far as Laptops go, you cannot add a new video card without it having a MXM slot. No slot? No new card.
Those really expensive laptops like the dell XPS lets you do that.
