I would recommend a 500 watter btw.
And even if you did get this PC for an amazing price, as soon as you want to upgrade (2-4 years), you're fucked and you have to purchase an all new system, save the HD and Disc drives.
I'm buying a really nice PC for 900$, and it has compliance with AM2 and AM2+ CPU, 4 PCIE slots, standard 240pin memory slots, crossfire AND SLI compatible, Full tower ATX, and 750w pSU. So it will last forever before i need to repurchase all the parts, which will save me more money in the end.
EDIT: of course, all from newegg. (unless I end up getting another harddrive, because there are better deals out there.) |
If you get that you'll be stuck with DDR2... In a few years they'll be gone. |
Uhmm no... 240-pin is for DDR3 too. People in the reviews have even said that they were running my mobo with DDR3.
EVEN IF I COULDN'T: it doesn't mater that much. from DDR2 1066 to DDR3 xxxx isn't that amazing of a difference. Most of the time all they do is increase the MHz, but WORSEN the timing. Plus, by that point, 64-bit would be all patched up and worth buying. So I could just get more than 4G, instead of replacing my old memory with the SAME amount of slightly better memory. I could get up to 8Gs of 1066, so it really wouldn't matter for a long time.

Not a big deal. I did a media PC for under 60GBP as an experiment.
Wasn't a great spec, and obviously not all new bits, bit it was done, TFT monitor and all.
Then on the other hand i've built machines for people in excess of a grand.
Depends on whats going in it, where you get those parts from, and how tight you wanna be

They have the same amount of pins, but they are keyed differently and aren't interchangeable. A DDR2 slot will only accept a DDR2 stick, same with DDR3.

I don't really see how he was being a smartass by pointing how the reason behind the price plummet.
Although the price plummet is just due to competition, and constantly evolving technology, making it more advanced and cheaper at the same time.

Just because they are cartoonish doesn't mean there isn't a lot of detail.
There's far more detail in the models than you might think, numerous shaders go into giving it that look, then there is the underlying facial system, and they didn't exactly skimp on the polygonal detail either.
Just because it might look simple doesn't mean it's so simple when it comes to the actual rendering.
