The earth does move closer to the earth every second, but by such a small fraction that it would make a single degree increase every 500,000,000 years if the rate stayed constant.
The hemisphere is what gets farther and closer depending on the season, which is effected by the orbit.
The sun is getting bigger too, but the same effect as line 1 applies.

Well since 500 million years is quite a while, and not a large difference, I don't care.
