when u put the disk in and attempt to install linux, u sould be prompted to add the partition, at this stage you should be able to delete the old one.

Sorry i have no idea how to do it on Linux but in Xp
there is a partition step.
There you can delete a whole partition.

I remember doing it in Ubuntu Hardy Heron, but I don't know if it's the same in SUSE/OpenSUSE.

Mind you I use Ubuntu cause it's a lot easier.

take any os cd, boot off it. it will show u the current partition in used. just dele it and install the os
