He said his father was noob at computers, so I'm sure he had to remove the case. (Mine stays off for better cooling) I doubt it's static damage.

PCWORLD wrote:
To avoid the ravages of static damage, your body and the components you're working with (add-in card, RAM, PC case, and so on) must be at the same electrical potential. And the easiest way to do this is to make sure that all static charges are drained to ground, an object connected to the Earth, which can harmlessly absorb the static charge. Until recently, that wasn't difficult. Since all standard AC wiring includes a common ground, you used to be able to ground yourself by touching the case of your PC while it was switched off but still plugged into the wall outlet. However, since today's PCs have voltage flowing through their motherboards whenever they're plugged in (5 volts direct current are used for switching the PC on and off), it's all too easy to accidentally short something and zap your motherboard, without static being involved at all. That's why it's essential that PCs be unplugged when you work with them.

@threadstarter maybe ur dad did this? He unplugged everything before he touched the metal case?

@Saviour hehe good idea. But it doesnt look good xD
we turned the power off at the power supply. Then we turned the opwer off at the switch on the wall and then we unplugged the wires...

make sure your RAM is pushed in properly. and does your dad know how to use a multimeter?

btw people saying it's static electricity damage, i highly doubt it. if you have a desktop pc, chances are you're going to bump a metal part of your case.

If the trouble is with the ram, ur internal speaker should beep 3 times upon startup, also post some specs here, like the mobo, RAM TYPE, processor.
Personally i think the problem is with static damage.
Since you said your dad is good with comps, i'm guessing he didn't try forcing some high speed 1800 mhz ram into a ddr2 slot or anything like that.
Does the ram have a heat spreader or did you grab the thing directly with ur hand?
