First, get the program PowerISO
Then, open your ISO file with it. From there, burn it to A CD-R or CD-RW disk. Make sure you DO NOT use a DVD-R or DVD-RW, it won't work.
Then, put the disk in and restart your computer. Depending on your BIOS, there should be a key when your computer is just barely starting up to bring you into a boot menu. Pick your disk drive in the boot menu, so it will boot off the CD. If this doesn't work, some computers automatically boot off of a CD anyway, so that might work.
NOTICE: During this time, your computer may tend to beep or become glitchy temporarily. Ignore this, it means that the disk has loaded everything correctly.
When you finally are at the Linux screen, click on the "Install" icon. Create a new partition and install it. However, if you have something valuable on your hard disk, please back it up onto a CD as it will be overwritten.
Then, you can follow tutorials on Google on how to install Beryl and Compiz.
The newest version of Linux is Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10
If you have any further questions, ask me. I hope I helped.
