Yes! Vista is an excellent operating system if you have modern hardware and don't play/hack games. It's also very pretty. No real reason to upgrade from XP if you're satisfied with it though, so it's your choice.

it doesnt let you do anything
story time now!!!
ok so my new freind got a new comp over the summer. Unfortunantly is vista. So my friend isnt that computer savy so i told him i'd help him set up some things on it. So when we're setting it up we try to change some of the settings. It took my about an hour to find were only SOME of the settings were... its so hard to do anything thing on vista.
Later on, we were loading up WoW (he plays it) and it asks when you put in the cd; do you want to instal this information or take the files off of it or prevent it from loading? We're like wtf do you think? So i clicked instal and waited for the next cd to be needed. When it was ready i put it in and it asked the same thing AGAIN, so i tried to change the default so it would automaticaly instal. So after a changed the default to auto instal and it was time for disk 3, it came up with the pop-up AGAIN after i specified it not to anymore.
Well my thoughts on vista is that its worse than XP. If xp was a sandbox, then vista is a sandbox with landmines in it. Its for ppl who dont know anything about computers, but if you do know about computers it wont let you do anything without excessive amounts of work.
VISTA SUCKS!

you're used to where things were on XP, you took time to learn that. For new users, Vista's UI makes more sense and they can find things faster.

Vista can't read your mind, some people want to do both

The reasoning behind this is if it allowed you to set a default for all disks then programs could steal the preferences and associate the disk opening with their program, causing trouble for the user
