VB sucks. Every incarnation of the "language" (I use that term very lightly) sucks. Period.
Why? It (BASIC) was never intended to be a serious language an as a result remains, a pathetic language

ok bring this topic up on www.vbforums.com (no it isn't all vb it has every pc language). and get flamed to hell about this. Programming language is about choice. I personally like C# and C++ but I used to use vb. and I have to say vb was a nice language. |
Say VB sucks on an amateur VB forum, you will be flamed. (Mostly because they don't know how to program in anything else, and flaming the offender makes them feel like they haven't wasted their life learning VB.)
Say VB is an excellent language on any forum with even the slightest bit of real programming knowledge, and you will be flamed.

I actually went to the forum to go say VB is a horrible language. It amuses me that when I looked around, I saw people flaming a guy for saying VB is a good language.
Yay, Desolator144. Saved me some trouble.

Yep, VBForums have a lot of people that don't know any VB at all. Strange, right? Well, it's all part of their plan.
VBForums's goal is to appear on the outside a warm welcoming community of VB programmers to help you with one of the "easiest" languages possible. What they're really doing is keeping newbies ignorant of other, superior useful languages so they can secure their jobs doing useful productive things while the next generation of programmers will be stuck doing messageboxes and calculators.
CEForums on the other hand will help you choose what's right for you, many of our members DIED to keep the evil corporate VB agena off these forums, you should really take our advice to heart.
DON'T LEARN VB.

To quote Edsger Dijkstra:
Quote: | It is practically impossible to teach good programming to students that have had a prior exposure to BASIC: as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration. |

Doesn't matter what language you use, I can bet your memory management sucks (non-.NET considering .NET takes that out of your hands), and then again, looking at your English and your grammar.... enough said.

You misunderstood:
.NET takes memory management out of your hands, ie, you the programmer doesnt have to be AS worried about it.
Seeing that you started on VB (whether that be .NET or otherwise), my guess is that your memory management (amongst other things) sucks.

Very simple concept. When you need memory, you allocate it. When you're done with it, you free it. Some beginners soil their pants just thinking about having to deal with freeing their memory so they have .NET, or garbage collection do it. The question is, when does the garbage collector know you're done with the memory? Does it know better than you do? Did IT design the program?
