So I've been trying to do some minor tweaking in Skyrim, specifically the number of available perk points. I'm not looking to add specific perks, just alter the perk point number itself. I did a search on the forums and found forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic.php?p=5298398&sid=76b8c0e4fe37d23691c45e2126629748, but the table/trainer there didn't seem to work for me. (At least, for what I wanted. I never tested it for anything else.)

My attempts at scanning for the address found some Doubles, but changing them did nothing. They changed right back and even if locked had no direct effect. This is for Win 7, original Skyrim, all DLC, bought via Steam so it should be the latest version. Any advice to try and pin the perk point number down?

Well I've never tried using Cheat Engine on Skyrim, but I imagine they most likely store the perk points as either a 2 byte, or 4 byte.
Skyrim wouldn't need to store the perk points as doubles or floats because you can't exactly have 1/2 a point.

Alternatively, there's a mod that allows you to edit a bunch of stuff in the game, including perk points. I believe it's called SkyTweak.

If I remeber correctly, all the values relating to perks are 4 bytes and encrypted. For example say your perk point count was 4, the correct value will be like 475107327( this is just an example). If I were you, first in order to get a bunch of perk points to work with start a new save and do the trick right before the bear where you can attack whoever you choseto go iinto the keep with. Use magicka to attack for a second and search for an increased value.

This will take several rinse and repeats and if memory serves right still leaves like 20-30 addresses

If your patience is at lvl 100 try to note about how much each value increases and try increasing the value manually without going overboard (eg. Don't change 111111111 to 999999999) you might cause a crash if it is the wrong address and it is not fun to have to start over. Once found, the value can be bumped up a lot without much worry. Get it to 100 and that should give you enough skill points to use the same knowledge in order to modify skill points and get yourself a pointer or create an AA cheat.

I hope this helps, but its been a good minute since I've hacked sky rim. If my information is wrong, I can try to make a table in about a week. Out of state right now visting family for chrismas and sending this from my phone since I did not bring my PC.

I wanted to do that too (that's long time ago Very Happy), if i remember correctly i eventually made it, it was a simple pointer.

EDIT: I found the table i made, this is the pointer address (It is a Byte type Razz)

"TESV.exe"+0172E2DC offset1: 539

You might want to test it first (just make sure to have at least 1 point)

add address manually:

tick pointer:

there will be to fields:

top field:
539

last field:
"TESV.exe"+0172E2DC

change data type to:
byte

As he said! Very Happy
The pointer could be wrong tho, it is pretty old.

At least now you know the type of that address, so if the pointer won't work you could do a simple search by your own and search for the base pointer out of the address you'll find (there are plenty of tutorials for doing that)
