|
|
I have been using pointermap comparisons for my pointer searching, but the pointerlists have been behaving oddly: They retain results from older searches, though they have been overwritten. Further, deleting them and making a new file with the same name would have the same result. A fresh file with an original name won't have this issue - at least until I begin trying to overwrite them.
The game that I am hacking is Dungeonmans, which had resisted my pointer searches until I started using the comparison method. Just in case that had anything to do with the weird behavior.
EDIT: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-Bit, Cheat Engine 6.7, 16gb memory.

when you use pointermaps do you only use the option to compare against other pointermaps? or do you also use the 'use pointermap' option?
with 'use poimtermap' the currently selected process is completely ignored and only the loaded map is used. (handy if you need to scan for someone else and you don't own the game)

I used both options. It makes sense that the primary map data would mess with things like that. Knowing this ought to make things go a bit more smoothly.
On the topic, it seems like that it might be possible to use too many maps. Using four maps wouldn't net results, while two would get something to work with.

Perhaps you made a mistake when generating one of those maps (e.g you found a pointerpath to the currently selected unit, but one of the maps only has you hover your mouse over it instead of selecting)
(or try more levels/wider structsize)
Also, each map will end up taking up the amount of RAM the game itself uses, so 4 times 7GB can take up 24GB ram. (I think CE should error out in that situation, but never tested it)

More levels? Will do.
Thank you for the help. Cheat Engine has been a treat.
