Hi everyone,

There's this really old game that I'm playing called Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire, and I need help in hacking a specific attribute of my characters.

JA2 is a turn-based game, where I can pick multiple characters as mercenaries. Each merc has an Experience Level (from 1 to 10), 10 being the absolute best. One of those mercs is at lvl 1, but even after several tries I am unable to correctly pinpoint the memory address which stores this value Sad.

I have a savegame with me, where in the course of the game (without any cheats/hacks), my merc levels up from 1 to 2. The savegame is slightly prior to this level up: the merc just has to take one step forward in the game map, and he gains the level-up.

Still, however much I tried to scan the memory addresses, I cannot find the exact memory address for this variable. Any ideas here Idea? Appreciate your help!

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I have tried searching for "1" using the "All" option for the Value type. still no luck. Perhaps the only explanation that remains is that the attribute is encrypted.

I have also checked other forums, and I have found the exact logic that the game uses for a merc to level up (source: How it Works section on ja2v113 pbworks forum):

If Accumulated_Advancement_Points is less than Required_Advancement_Points, then
Modifier = 0
Else,
Modifier = 1
Effective_Level = Current_Stat_Level + Modifier
If Stat = EXPERIENCE_LEVEL, then
Effective_Level = 10 * (Current_Experience_Level + (Modifier) )
Actual_Chance = 100 - Effective_Level

Is there any way I can search for this code logic?

Alternatively, can I search for memory areas where the write actually occurs?

PS: All other stats for the mercs are otherwise directly editable.
