Cheat Engine

I'm trying to bypass the security algorithm of crypt of the necrodancer, it basically does this:

-It lets me attach the debugger but whenever the process reaches a breakpoint of mine, the process closes itself with a classic "stopped working" message
-If I try to change any non-trivial address, I encounter a "cheating detected" screen
-It doesn't let me do "what writes to this address" or "what accesses this address"

The first thing that came to my mind as a solution is maybe if I can get a list of instructions that have been executed by the process just before the process closes itself, I could track down something. But I don't know how to do it.

What can I do about this? Any solutions?

Edit > Settings > Debugger Options
Preferred breakpoint method > Hardware Breakpoints
Debugger method > Use VEH Debugger

And I just bypassed that cheating detected screen thanks to VEH debugger, didn't know it was this simple

Hey, I know this thread is old, but how would I do this on a Mac? I'm not sure what to replace with what... finding the values are easy since they are all static but this anti cheat mechanism triggers whenever you change the gold value!
