You can use LUA to incorporate keystates inside of your script, or, you can simply search for the value by searching for changed/unchanged value (key pressed/not pressed). It's usually coded as a boolean type where you're dealing with a 1/0, true/false, pressed/not pressed type situation, but it can sometimes be set up as a float type that fluctuates from 0 to 100% (e.g. for game controllers with trigger buttons and analog sticks etc.).
