I was recording a game with Fraps but it crashed and my video got split into two files, one of the first 30 seconds that works perfectly, and an other one that I can't open with any player.

I've tried many many different avi recovery programs, but they all say 'not an avi file' or 'not a supported file' (while they extension does say .avi).

Any help?

I've been googleing around and found this but I have no idea what they're talking about or how to do what the OP did to fix it.

Not sure how Fraps records to file, but perhaps the AVI header was never written / not written fully while recording so the header of the file could be corrupted.

Open the broken avi in a hex editor of some sort and see if the header is there then check if it is somewhat proper to a point that something would be able to recognize the file type.
