The pointer doesn't work, at least not in the steam demo.

All I see after the timer starts is ??. It's possible the pointer in your table just doesn't go down enough levels.

I haven't tried with the origin version though, so that could also be the problem.

How does the game store the remaining time(though it would be more difficult to find if it's in ms format) so I can find it myself?

I do know how to stop the timer through the area boundary glitch though.

It does store in ms. I started it as an unknown value, but soon enough I found the right value. If you have steam version of he game, I believe someone already made a trainer through cheat engine for steam version of the game that has the same option.
As far as pointer level concerns I believe it goes down to 1st level only. The table itself works for every time I start a new game, I wouldn't post it otherwise.
