|
|
i just got some idea about the language and the Panda3D libraries.
seems like Panda3D doesn't compile games into EXE's.
although there are 3rd party tools which compile Python scripts into EXE's, i'm concerned about the compatibility(possibility of successful conversion) and the efficiency of the EXE.
is it good to learn Python and Panda3D? (if i haven't learned much about C++/Python, only have knowledge of ASM.)

If you want to make exe's you have to write your code in c++ and use the panda3d library and build the .exe with visual studio

Visual Studio 2010 Express is completely free. (With some limitations.)
But you can produce full quality applications with it still.

Visual Studio 2008 is a collection of Microsoft's developing tools, eg. C++, C# VB.net etc...
There's also 2010 which includes much recent version.

You can get a Python exe using Py2EXE or other similar packages. It will create PYO files which are the compiled PY bytecode. You can also optionally put all the external library dependencies in a separate ZIP file as part of the build process. This would allow libraries based upon the LGPL to be updated for the app to fulfill this licensing requirement for commercial projects that do not open their source.
Oh, and it does create a standalone exe.
