What is this I don't even
Norton was useless in 2003 & is improving good, how is that un-updated?

It isn't good.
You've never worked on a machine with Nortons if you think it's improving in the slightest.

Norton blocks IPv4 connections going through port 80 once the subscription has expired.

It's difficult to show an example.

As much as Norton used to suck in the past, they have improve, they deserve credit where its due. As for your experience, I've encounter many system with expired Norton and it does not block IPv4 connections going through port 80. Speaking of this port stuff, port 80 is a common port where everything is being used much like channel 6 on a wifi signal. You should created your own port and use that instead.

@Kls: It works because of how the norton software integrates itself into the OS. One of the networking protection features is turned off when the software expires, which in turn blocks the connection because the program disallows everything.

Actually I've worked plenty on Norton machines seeing as I'm working part time at a local computer store (we sell, repair, basically we do everything).

I haven't experienced your problem either, but if you're right then yes it's shitty it doesn't turn itself off instead of disallowing connections. But on the other hand the program is made to work with a subscription.
If you have nothing else to come with other than trivial stuff like the aforementioned then yeah, you're not convincing me norton is bad.

I have worked at a shop & built tons of machines for almost 10
years now and I must say - Norton is bad for loads of reasons,
sorry it just is.

If you think it is good then fair enough but please try Eset,
Kaspersky or even the free avast before you say Norton is good.

When I used to use Norton like 5 years ago I used to put it on every
computer thinking it was the bees knees, boy was I wrong - there is no
such thing as the best AV but there is such as thing as some of the best
and I personally think the 3 mentioned above are of the best quality.

Though I have tried the new one 360 recently because I got it for
free from my friend because they were stupid enough to BUY a
computer instead of making one -_- and I must say it is a
very small bit better but boy, it pissed me off and had to uninstall
it after 10 minutes of it's crap and threw hat shit in the bin. Smile

My HP laptop came built-in with a virus called "Norton." It literally attached itself to every single process I ran.

Thought I'd "bump" to let everyone know that I'll still update this if someone posts a suggestion, so feel free to post good programs that you like to use and want to share with everyone else.
