|
|
These are few steps to make your firefox run at lightning speed
1. First in the URL bar, Type “about:config”. This will bring up a list of commands and variables you can edit.
2. The second step is to put “network.http.pipelining” in the filter and change the value to “true”.
3. After that you will want to put “network.http.proxy.pipelining” in the filter.
Like the last one, make that value set to “true” also.
4.
Next, locate “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” and change the value
to some number higher, say 10,20 or even 30, it would make up to 10,20
or 30 requests at once.
5.
The last step is to right click anywhere and select “New” then
“Integer”. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and make its value
“0?. This will make the browser respond faster on the information of
the websites it receives.
6. Close out FireFox (make sure FireFox is closed by viewing the Task Manager) and restart it and enjoy the new mega speed.
Now you can browse through the net in top speed of your internet connection.
credit to the who made this xD
Need Prove???
Test your internet speed before you use this Tut at http://www.speedtest.net/ and test is again after you made changes!
There is 40% chance it will work on new firefox, but sure work on old onces

I don't see how changing settings in a browser is supposed to speed up your internet. You're speed is determined by your internet connection, which is determined by your ISP.
it clearly tells you that changing advanced settings can be harmful to your browser and make it unstable.
unstable = more crashes
also, you posted this in the wrong section. This is for Cheat Engine tutorials, you know, the program.

Before:
Download: 20,38 Mb/s
Upload: 1,08 Mb/s
Ping: 12 ms
After:
Download: 19,46 Mb/s
Upload: 1,01 Mb/s
Ping: 8 ms
I've got a better ping but Download and Upload Speed decreases

Well, ping has nothing to do with firefox's settings. It's a different protocol to HTTP altogether (ICMP), so that's just some fluctuation through your ISP there, and not a result of this.

This little guide has been floating around for years now. It doesn't speed up your internet at all. All it does is speed up page loads for Firefox users on a broadband connection. It just allows Firefox to handle more requests at once instead of only a few at a time, thus increasing load speeds for people with faster connections.
People with dial-up may end up slowing page loads further with this method.

Actually, you can just take 8, a number higher than that, wouldn't make a difference.

Just so folks know, though it really doesn't make a difference... the latest Firefox engine will not take maxrequests values greater than 10. Any value greater than 10 will be automatically regarded as 10. You won't get faster performance by writing in 30, 50 or other higher numbers.
Also, and this is the important one, nglayout.initialpaint.delay is the time (in milleseconds) the browser waits from recieving an HTML element to when it renders (or re-renders) the page. By setting this to 0, you're telling the browser to re-render the page continuously as the page is downloaded. This is a bad idea, and causes an actual performance drop, especially on less efficient, or single-core processors, where the machine has to wait for the page to render before downloading the next element and rendering again, saturating the CPU cycles.
Ultimately, nglayout.initialpaint.delay is better set with a more moderate number. Anything from 20 to 75 should give you the appearance of being faster without slowing down the machine. Naturally, machines with older processors such as pentiums may want to stay toward the higher side of that range, while faster dual and quad core machines can go to the lower side without seeing a performance drop.
EDIT: Just to clarify, these hacks DO work... the pipelining will help if the bandwidth allocated to your connection by the server is lower than your total bandwidth as provided by your ISP. It causes your PC to request multiple bits of information at once, making the server allocate more resources to you. nglayout.initialpaint.delay simply makes your browser appear to render faster by not waiting for the majority of the page to load before rendering.
If you want to take pipelining to the extreme, there's a tool called Fresh Download by Fresh Devices. It's free but requires registration. It's basically a download manager that uses multiple routes to the host, fooling the server into thinking you are multiple users. You can configure it to download a certain fraction of the file on each of a certain number of routes, thereby getting 2x to 8x the speed off of habitually slow servers. It's also great if you're behind a corporate switch that allocates bandwidth from a very large aggregate on a per-connection basis.

This will speed up browsing but isn't going to increase your download speed (hence speedtest showing the same results) OP got a bit confused me thinks also I read somewhere that the max number of requests is 8, not sure about that though.
EDIT: lol just looked at the post above mine

Fresh Download is crap.
Don't even install it, 'cos your computer is then scarred til you reformat it.
And yes this mod does works.
