|
|
I'm using Windows ME.
Whenever I hook cheat engine onto a process (ie firefox.exe), do some flash game mem hacking and etc..the moment I close cheat engine. firefox crashes.
If I close firefox first, then cheat engine. A kernel32.dll error will popup. Saying that cheat engine has caused an error in kernel32.dll
This has only happened after updating it to 5.1.1

was hyperscan enabled?
and you don't have anything enabled in settings->extra right? if you did, you're not supposed to with that windows version
And what do you mean with hook into? Attach the debugger or just open the process ?

Nothing in Extra is checked.
Hyperscan isn't enabled.
I'm trying to attach Cheat Engine onto the process.
Thanks.

try just clicking ok in the processlist instead of attach to process
It is normal that firefox gets destroyed when ce closes after having the debugger attached to it. Windows ME doesn't allow detaches.
but no idea about the exception when closing ce after firefox has been closed.

Hi,
That makes it worst. Now firefox doesn't crash, but when closing cheat engine, it gives me an
"cheatengine.exe has caused an error with <unknown>"
Then cheat engine will give me a
ACCESS VIOLATION....

Do meh a favor In this order too...
- Launch CE
- Launch the game you're trying to mess with
- In CE, hit the 'open process' button
- Find your process, click it once, click "Ok" (not attach)
- Close CE
Does it still crash?
If yes...
I'd see about completely uninstalling CE, then re-installing it. That is unless...
DB, does uninstalling CE, remove all previous system settings?
If not, this will do you no good most likely...
If so... do the above, then re-install CE. With "Default" settings, see if this issue still occurs.
If none of that jazz works, please give me this info:
1. Processor
2. RAM
3. Tested games
4. In CE, click "Settings" and list which settings you have checked/selected/etc (only need to know whats on, not whats off or unselected).
5. Steps you usually walk through, to launch CE and the game

Hi zhoul,
Sorry for the EXTREMELY late reply
- Launch CE
- Launch the game you're trying to mess with
- In CE, hit the 'open process' button
- Find your process, click it once, click "Ok" (not attach)
- Close CE
Yep. That doesn't crash it.
I'm trying to mess with firefox.exe (flash game )
Regards.
