6. Misc.

1. Download RSBot
To get RSbot to work on your computer, I'm going to have to assume that you're using Windows.
The most essential part of this guide would be the RSbot client, which can be downloaded here:
http://www.rsbot.org/download/
RSBot 574.1
Mirror:
http://rapidshare.com/files/305746462/RSbot.rar
You will also need some sort of Archiver. If you don't have something similar to WinRAR or 7zip to extract the content out of anything downloaded off of RapidShare, get the following and install it.
http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar380.exe
You no longer need the archiver.
2. How to use RSBot
1. Download RSbot
2. Extract to an empty folder
3. There should be two exe.'s named Compile-Scripts and Compile
4. Click either
5. The command prompt should pop up and tell you what it has done to RSbot
Is this not working for you? That's OK. Download the latest JDK here:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
Its what you need to make/find the class files.
6. Click Play or Play-Free
7. A RuneScape client should pop up
8. On the top, it should say File, Edit, Source, View, and Help
9. Go to Edit --> accounts
10. Type in your account user name and password, and apply
11. Get out of that then click File --> Run Script
12. You should get this
13. Find a suitable script and run it
14. It should automatically log you in and begin
Try to begin the script at the location of where the macrobot is supposed to work. Many can't walk to the location by them self.
3. How to set your Path
People seem to getting this message quite often -
Windows cannot find 'javaw'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again.
"javac" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
There are a few possibilities of why this may of occurred. Here are a couple:
1. You might not have the programs that are needed to run RSBot. These would be the JDK files. Most people only have the JRE files.
2. You didn't compile anything
Done this and still having problems? Now you may need to do something a little more beyond. This involves tampering with your system. Don't worry though. Making a mistake won't cost anything. Just remember to do this after you download the JDK. Otherwise, this method won't work for you.
1. Go to C:\Program Files\Java or where ever you put your Java folder
2. Open your JDK folder. Its the folder that is named something similar to this, jdk1.6.0_13. The numbers are just the version, so don't look for this exact folder.
3. There should be a few folders and files in there. Look for the folder named bin and open it.
4. Now you should see a whole bunch of binary programs that don't seem too user friendly. All you have to do is right click one of them, and select Properties.
5. Now click on the tab General, and look for the Location. It should say something similar to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_13\bin.
6. Highlight the location, and copy it. You know how to do this, right?
7. Now go to your Control Panel, and open up System (Try to be looking at the control panel through the classic view, to make it easier on yourself).
8. There should be a tab named Advanced. Click on it.
9. There should now be a few options to choose from. Click Environment Variables.
10. There should be a box named System Variables. Scroll through the variables until you find one named Path. Double click it, or click it once, and press Edit.
11. Leave the Variable Name as is, but add a ; to the end of the Variable Value. For example, my variable value looks like this,
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\PROGRA~1\DISKEE~1\DISKEE~1\;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\
Make it look like this,
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\PROGRA~1\DISKEE~1\DISKEE~1\;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;
Notice the Semi colon I added to the end? Just do that.
12. Remember that Location you copied in step 6? Now you have to paste that location here, to the right of the stuff inside your variable value.
It should look like this.
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\PROGRA~1\DISKEE~1\DISKEE~1\;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_13\bin
See that? All I added was the location, after the semi colon. I didn't need to get rid of anything.
13. Try running FindJDK.bat or Compile.bat again. It should work. If not, make sure you tell me which step you had trouble with.
4. Scripts to get you started
Here are some scripts that are reasonably useful.
http://rapidshare.com/files/236567299/RSBot_Scripts.rar
I'll update this from time to time. And eventually get rid of the bad ones. Which this download is full of...
Unless you want this. There are fewer scripts, but its what I personally use.
http://rapidshare.com/files/236822441/Personal_RSBot_Scripts.rar
I'll add more soon.
5. How to update RSBot yourself
If you want to update RSBot yourself, just run this.
http://rapidshare.com/files/248667907/rs.jar_updater.rar
It will create a file named rs.jar. Simply put the file in the root menu of your RSBot folder. It will ask if you want to replace the older version. Click yes. You will then have the latest version of RSBot.
6. Misc.
Some things to know, after you get used to RSbot. As you know, RuneScape features random events. Some of the scripts are capable of solving them. You can find these solving scripts in the Randoms folder of RSbot. But these scripts don't just solve randoms for you. They include closing a window if it pops up, logging you back in if you some how get out, closing the "You leveled up!" screens, and many more. As for the Antiban folder, you should know how Jagex doesn't tolerate macrobotting. They WILL disable your account if you are caught. Antiban scripts are the things that make you seem more human like. For example, logging out, or responding when someone asks for you cooking level, or even clicking other tabs and checking your XP.
------------------ Notes ------------------
Using a macrobot is not hacking. It is simply running a script, telling it to do things a legit player would do.
This is just a quick start. If you want a more in-depth explanation of things like solving random events, making you own scripts, or any trouble shooting, go to Rsbot.org. It's the site that hosts RSbot.
Not sure if I should really go in-depth for the new update...
Have a question? Feel free to post them here or send me a PM. I'll respond when I get the chance. Please make it a detailed explain with the version, the messages (if there are any), and the script you are using (if you were using one).
7. The new update
| Quote: | RSBot is just one file you can double click to start
No need for SVN
No need for JDK
Settings saved under My Documents\RSBot (or ~/RSBot on Unix)
Faster, takes less cpu and memory |
| Quote: | Notes for RSBot 566.0:
You must delete all scripts from My Documents before first use
Some methods may still be broken. |
When you download RSBot, you'll get only one file. A JAR file. Run it to launch RSBot. All the files will be saved under My Documents --> RSBot. It's pretty much the same. This should be easier to use though. You won't have to reload the plugins. The scripts will refresh once you open up the selection. You will still need to compile your scripts though. In case you're wondering about the Precompiled folder in the Scripts folder, all of your .class files go there.

| Nice guide, should maybe include a link to tools.jar, without it you can't compile.

Uh..
When I press 'run script' there's no scripts there. Are you supposed to download them seperately or are they already included?

There are default scripts included, depending on what you downloaded. Did you create an account yet?

There should be scripts included with the download. They are in the Scripts folder.
There could be a couple reasons why they didn't show up for you.
1. You may have forgotten to compile them
2. After clicking "Run Script" you might have to extend the script folder by double clicking it
Well, I can't really think of any other reasons at the moment.
If your still having problems, check your Scripts folder in the root menu of RSBot. You should have java files and class files. If you only have java files, you need to compile the scripts. If you have both, you just need to extend the folder named Scripts in "Run Script".
If you have neither java, or class files in your script folder, then it means they were either deleted during the compile, or just didn't come with it.
I will add my own script folder soon.
