|
|
Hey,
I've been using cheat engine for a while now, and it is by far one of the most useful tools I have come across, but repeatidly I run into the three breakpoint barrier. So, I've been wondering, why is it there? Is it easy to change? Is changing it dangerous? Any information is welcome.
Thanks,
Xan

the 3 breakpoint barrier is because there are only 4 hardware breakpoints available.
the usefullness of a hardware breakpoint is that is doesn't edit the code you've set a breakpoints. The downside, as you guesed it, only 4 (and ce uses one for itself for stuff like running till... and stepping over)
But, you can also choose software breakpoints, and then you'll have unlimited.
Before debugging go to settings->assembler and change "use hardwatre breakpoints" to "use int3 instructions for breakpoints"

Thanks for the prompt and straight-forward response :/ I hope int3 breakpoints work as well as the hardware ones for the protection I'm currently working around... ah well. thanks.
