I just got my new comp a few weeks ago and I already got my first problem with it.
When I play games (it doesn't really matter which ones, from warcraft 3 to Farcry 2) the computer has random freezes. I dont know what this is causing at the moment, I first thought it might be my video-card (as it got really hot), but after a new cooling and all on it I now know it isnt.
So I thought, perhaps its my memory, but when I use the build in memory-test from vista, it doesnt give a single error in it.
So now Im all confused and hoped you guys can help my out .
My system setup is:
Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium
A PSU of 700w
one ATI Radeon 4870
A AMD Phenom 9750
4GB RAM
and a K9A2 Platinum V2 mobo
(if needed I can also post my hdd and disk drivers, but that doesnt seem necassary to me.)

The issue may lie in your graphic card where the card isn't able to cope with the constant changing of its speed.
If you have a Sapphire HD4870 512MB there is a bios update, if you got another card there is a work around on the internet.

Notebooks and desktop has different issues.
The HD 4870 is the one there has this sort of issue (not sure about the HD 4850 or other versions).
For notebooks if your using a NVIDIA graphics then its a manufacture defect, not from the notebook maker, but from the graphics chipset plant.

I first had 2x 4850s in it, but it still had the same problem (only faster then now) so I traded those in for this one (it has 1024mb memory by the way) and still have it.
But how do I fix it? Because I did hear that updating the BIOS can damage it :/ .

You got the bad end of the deal on that trade, a pair of 4850's will smoke a 4870.
Updating the video BIOS isn't really dangerous as long as you follow the instructions. Even if you do corrupt the BIOS, it's not like bricking a motherboard, you can just throw in another graphics card and hook your monitor up to that, leaving the bad card in the system as well, and flash it again. I've done that many times before.
