some games that use anti-debugging (e.g: games with punkusters, such as america's army)
seem to be impossible to use the directx mess functions with.

But in fact it's quite easy to still use it without fearing anti-debugging routines.
(unless the detect the directx hack)

It will require windows XP and later though, so win2k and earlier are out of luck.

Just do what you always do, set the configuration you want and click apply.
But don't click ok to start the game yet. First Close Cheat Engine.
When Cheat Engine is closed, then click ok.
That way there is no debugger to detect and can't cause a problem anymore,
but the directx hook and keyhandler will still be active in the game.

Edit:closing CE isn't required but is the easiest, you could also just select another process and wait till it's done detaching itself from the process
