I put songs on it but when I unplug it it says that there arent any songs on it. When I plug it back in it says they're in it.

which brand?
if it's iPod, reformat with itunes.
if it's iPod, use itunes to put music in it

if it's anything else, google.

Are you just drag&dropping them into your MP3 folder? Because I don't think it will work like that.

Be sure your putting them in your mp3, not your library.
