Last Scenario, in particular. If you like oldschool RPGs, it's worth downloading.

Tried to hack my money and stats on this game, with no success at all. Started with exact value, and when that didn't work, I used unknown initial and bought and sold/equipped and unequipped items until I had manageable results, none of which worked.

I did manage to crash the game once, though.

Is there's some basic rule I'm missing, like the flash 'multiply by 8'? Or do I just fail hardcore? Any assistance would be lovely.

And I'm terribly sorry if this has been run over already, but the search seems to be down.

16-bit gives me an error, no readable memory. 2 byte is similarly unsuccessful.

Well, 8 bytes brought up four addresses that are very obviously my gold total, somehow. I can't edit them, as they're in some crazy moon language (hex) that I can't make equal the numbers on the screen, but selective freezing and unfreezing is letting me drive my gold up. It'll do~

Just made my main character invincible by freezing his HP value. For any that come after me, it seems all values in the game have four addresses associated with them, and they can only be found in eight bytes.

Same trouble here, different RPGMaker XP game.

Even with 8 bytes I get 0 results though when I try searching for a known value. Tried starting with an unknown value and eventually came up with numbers that were very large. Freezing them crashed the game.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Nettle, the trick seems to be (value*2)+1

Since I established that, searches have been very quick and easy, though the game seems crash-happy when I do anything besides freezing values.

EDIT: Use 4 bytes

That seems to be it. Wonder if it's some attempt to encrypt the values. I've never run into this before.

Oh well, thanks TrygonTBD!

Oh well, thanks TrygonTBD!

Best I can tell, it allows for .5 values, and the '1' likely refers to '0' ingame.

Values are stored as 4 byte integers and are stored as 2*n+1 values. So for example, you have 101 hp, do a new search and search for 203(101*2+1) with 4 byte boundaries. Go into combat and get hit. Click outside of the game to pause it. Your new hp is 90, so do a search for 181 (90*2+1). Hopefully you get 1 value now and you can freeze this value so it doesn't go down any further. You can repeat this process for everyone in your part and also their MP.

I tried searching for a static pointer, ala lesson 6 but I gave up after about 15 pointers. I also tried to do injection by nop'ing code, but this just causes the game to crash. Doing the old fashion search for values and changing or freezing seems to be the sure bet.

hacking rpg maker xp is awful to do take some time and effort because its such a poorly compatible game and maker it takes allot of time you need to put the rate at a certain point. Sad you might want to keep the byte rate at 4 and try low health to high health and try it im not 100% sure about this though Confused
