Hello guys,
I've been trying to find some very basic values in Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time emulated on PCSX2. I tried finding, for example, the value for HP in battle. I could narrow down a float value, which was responsible for the red bar that comes down with a delay after HP decreases, and two 1-byte addresses that somehow affect HP value.
The weird thing is that the float value can't be messed with, the value keeps in place even after freezing. When I set a "find what writes...", I realized that there is a constant writing to keep the value in check.
The other two values (1 byte) that I found, whenever I mess with them in whatever way, it simply zeroes my HP value.
After searching the scarce results on a Google search for SO3 cheating, I've realized that many people have had trouble with this game, apparently it has some kind of anti-cheating protection. I've seen something mentioned about a "xor" or something in a Gamefaqs Forum.
Also, finding values in this game is absurdly difficult, even those that don't work as I wanted them are the result of a lot of time searching and using various search types. I've also read on the the internet that this game does some address changing constantly.
My questions are the following:
- Is this game impossible to hack? (not that I believe that such a thing
exists)
- How could I write a script for that float value that is constantly being rewritten? (I'm terrible with scripting, any help or light shed on the matter would be awesome)
- Is there a way to meddle with those values that appear to be protected and zeroes my HP value?
- Is there any easier way of finding values in a game that apparently keeps changing addresses all the time?
I can post here any useful information that you require, like images (if the forum let me), values, trace results, whatever.
I appreciate any help in advance. |
