Chose no to all extra options while installing and the installer still tried to sneak in some adware onto my computer but my antivirus caught it. Also installed Chromium and yahoo search extensions to my browsers and never said ONE thing about either of those in the installation.

Seriously fuck you devs. Dick fucking move. I'm sure this topic will be deleted sooner than later so that more people don't find out about it.

You didn't uncheck the chromium offer.
The chromium advertisement needs you to "click here" on the underlined link to be able to uncheck it.

example

you need to click here to opt out

The software is free and obviously a lot of hard work went into making it. The least you could do is read the installation process to know what was going on not bitch out Dark Byte.

The installer is packaged with ads that are all able to be opt'd out of if you take a few extra seconds to actually look and not just blindly click next. Cheat Engine is released for free, continued to be updated for free, and has never been charged for.

Dark Byte looks for minor ways to get some kick-back for his time and effort since most people never even bother to want to say thanks / donate in any manner. So installers like this which bundle ads in it are one way of making some money for the work he does.

This is nothing new and has been used in the CE installer for years. And much like every other topic that is created because of user error (like yours) it is no ones fault but your own for not actually reading anything and just clicking next. Every single offer in the installer has methods of opt.ing out. Some are more hidden than others but that is not something Dark Byte has control over. The ads are handled by the installer company, not DB.

Here's a post I made a while back, showing each style of ad that is used and how to opt. out of them:

Still don't want to support the dev? Download and compile CE yourself:
https://github.com/cheat-engine/cheat-engine

Or use the non-installer version, listed on the site, again something you could have found if you read and looked for. (Again, all user error.)

Thanks for the Github link, I think I'll just compile myself from now on.
