For the last few days I have been trying to find the base pointer for stun grenade ammo in Consortium: The Tower on Steam Early Access.
Using the automatic method I found tens of millions of pointers and narrowed those down to a few hundred. Unfortunately after death and reload the pointers change. Which tells me I have not gone deep enough. Unfortunately anything above a level 7 scan uses up more than 120GB of disk space. Level 6 and 7 with advanced option settings for more results did not find the base pointer unfortunately.
Using the manual method I run into a curious "circular" problem.
1. find address (4 byte)
2. find what writes to the address
3. enter in hex of probable address to search
4. take first return (of around 40) and convert to pointer and add offset
5. find what accesses the address of the newly added pointer
* NOW THE PROBLEM:
The probable address refers back to the original address that we just entered as hex!
More info (1): there are at least 2 doubles and a float that work similar to the 4 byte address above in that they can also successfully freeze the ammo count. The 4 byte address is just more convenient because of the way it displays the ammo number.
More info (2): I have been able to successfully find a "permanent" or at least more permanent pointer for suit energy and that never changes.
Please help if you can. I am out of ideas.
