unmotivated people give up and don't feel like continuing after taking a break from whatever it is they need to be motivated to do
motivated people feel energized and ready to get back on task after taking a break.
anyone can feel motivated while doing things, and thats a factor of will/determination, different from motivation.
most obvious example for this is exercise. people easily begin their exercise routine, but become unmotivated. its not while exercising they become unmotivated, but after they take a break and get comfortable they do not want to continue exercising the next time. even if they may enjoy the exercise, the break does not give them the feeling of wanting to return, but to continue their ways.
this is why unmotivated people feel self-pity. there is a disconnect. they know they enjoy, and that it is good for them, the thing that they are unmotivated to do, but when not doing it they do not feel energized and ready to start again despite this.
now you can also see the difference between the word unmotivated and lazy. you can be motivated and be doing something, but due to laziness not execute it to your full potential. but unmotivated there is no potential, because there is no energy involved. |
