Just installed the newest version and when I go to launch it I get an error saying Windows can't find CE. I'm trying to launch it from it's main folder and I am running as admin. Tried running in Safe Mode, same thing happened. Anti-virus also disabled. Screenshot attached.

Make sure your anti-virus is not messing with it or deleting it. (Includes checking Windows Defender if you have it enabled.)

It's your antivirus. Disable it and add the folder to its exception list.

as the 2 users above said, it might be AV deleting CE files.
but if the AV wasnt the problem, then try to clean un-install all CE versions.
and cleaning CE registry keys. and everything related to CE.
(like CE never was installed on your PC)
then install a fresh version.
my solution might not be the best, but it can solve most issues as i have tested.

I'm having the same problem. Disabling and adding exceptions to my anti virus didn't solve it.
Tried a couple clean re-installs including the registry - same thing.
This just started today, but no changes to Cheat Engine occurred between yesterday and today. (I'd already been using 6.7 with no problems.)

Reinstall cheat engine, AVs are known to mess files up and lock them up even if you tell them not to

Still haven't figured it out, unfortunately.
I'll post back if I get it working again. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Well I cleaned out any and all AV software, I cleaned out the registry, disabled Windows defender, did a complete reinstall of CE and...same result.

Windows 7
- From the desktop, right click the Computer icon.
- Choose Properties from the context menu.
- Click the Advanced system settings link.
- Click Environment Variables. In the section User/System Variables, find the PATH environment variable and select it.
- Click Edit. If the PATH environment variable does not exist, click New.
- In the Edit User/System Variable (or New User/System Variable) window, specify the value of the PATH environment variable.
- Click OK. Close all remaining windows by clicking OK.
sometimes windows start acting like a d*ck, so it better to grab his hand and guide it to the right place. (an*l place) lol
use at your own risk, and im not responsable.

Install CE to a different drive.
It's quite possible you might have a virus infection which is modifying the ce exe (having an AV doesn't help) or it could be your antivirus, both are known to modify exes. The exe could be quarantined (someone had an issue with ce the other day and after disabling his av, it worked)

i still had to disable my av
my antivirus is so stupid
it quartines items it thinks are suspicouse but if you unquartine it and try to run it, it automaticly requartines it |
Issues like these don't ever happen on computers without an antivirus. Windows hasn't acted like a dick to me for 7 years now (with windows defender off) especially with something like my software messing up, the last time i was infected was in 2010 because someone else used my PC and put an infected flashdrive in it, would've been nice use to the word "decade" (in three years i could haha).
So yeah, install it somewhere else and if that doesn't work then there might be another issue with your computer.

ehm, STN.
do you think disk derangement can help.
EDIT: or disk error checking (windows built-in tool)

Well I am at a loss at this point. I ran two virus scans (found nothing), a malwarebytes scan, then uninstalled both. Cleared out the registry, made sure Windows defender was off, tried installing to both of my drives and in the end I still get the same error.

rename cheatengine-x86_64.exe to goat.exe and run that
if that works, then reformat your harddisk and possible also a new BIOS, as your system has been compromised by an advanced rootkit that tries to hide itself by blocking CE
