Hi,

I just started learning cheat engine and started watching guides and did the tutorial.
But most tutorials do not cover what an address exactly is and where and how it is stored. As far as I know they are used to "connect" variables from the stack to the heap.
I have the same problem with pointers and offsets. I know what they do but not how they work. Is there a cheat engine or general guide on these topics?

Thanks in advance!

Watch programming videos or take courses like http://cs50.edx.org and http://opensecuritytraining.info/IntroX86.html

Seriously. If you want to understand how things are actually working and why, then you have to learn how to create those things. Then you learn about how the languages work and the compilers that convert them and ... this is a pretty deep rabbit hole. Like any other hole however, you can learn a lot by poking your head in, instead of just looking at it from the outside, and if you're careful there's no need to jump in hoping for a safe landing.

Thanks a lot for your reply, aren't there other sources where I can only learn about what addresses are, because the sources you sent are great but also really broad.

google "pointers and addresses" (or search youtube) and you'll find dozens if not hundreds of different explanations. It's a pretty fundamental programming concept.

Here's a few I picked out mostly at random (based on the title though I scanned the content)
