I must've gone through the installation too fast because I ended up with adware on my system, and it's incredibly difficult to find/remove. CE 6.6. Basically every five minutes I get a random popup to a website in each browser I use, and no file shows up in extensions or programs. Done scanning with various software to no avail. A few of the sites I've seen so far are:

(Okay so I can't post links apparently but basically there's a link to an adroid app, a chrome extension for better tabs, two porn games, and some ipad offer shit)

If someone could help identify what the program is called or how to go about removing it I would be very grateful.

All offers provided by the advertiser network CE makes use of are heavily regulated. They must all have the option to uninstall in settings->uninstall program, or from chrome in the chrome extensions tab

Try rebooting in safe mode and then scan.

Is your browser up to do date ? (The number one reason people assume CE caused it is because previously they where searching for game hacks, and a lot of sites lure people to them, but actually have pages with browser exploits. Usually for multiplayer games, but also some single player ones)

Also check to make sure there aren't any strange processes still running that could be adware.

I'd also go into msconfig and take off any unnecessary start up tools you have to speed up your computer load times / disable any unknown content on your PC

Huh. So I didn't read manga yesterday and I got no pop-ups. Kinda weird since I've been using the same site to read manga for a while now and never had a problem. The ads showing up after I installed CE might've been just a bizarre coincidence then. Still makes no sense since I use a solid pop-up blocking extension. At any rate, I'm now using a new website to read manga just to be safe, and I haven't seen any pop-ups for two days so I assume I am.

Some websites change their code from time to time. If you are using a script blocker, try changing your permissions for that site to block everything as a test. If you are not using a script blocker, then you should be using a script blocker.
