So I've got this USB camera, and I want a computer to be able to find a specific object using it. I'll also need to do the processing on a single-board computer or something similar.
Does anyone have any recommendations, tips, or anything? Right now I'm planning on using OpenCV on a raspberry pi, but I've heard that's a bit slow. _________________
I don't know where I'm going, but I'll figure it out when I get there.
Well in the "anything" category I can say that when I wrote a visual servoing program for a small robot, I had all the visual processing done in a directshow filter (derived from CTransformFilter). A bit like a video codec that would output the coordinates of the largest blue and red spots.
Apparently image processing (single threaded) time was about 15ms on a 2Ghz laptop for a 800x600 image iirc. Probably not the best solution, but good enough at the time.
I guess that if you run that on a atom it still counts as a single board computer. _________________
